Atlas Women's 12 Series Elektra Snowshoe Review

Atlas Women's 12 Series Elektra Snowshoe Feature

  • Women's snowshoe with Elektra frame features a narrower waist and tapered tail for a more natural stride
  • Padded Wrapp Pro binding eliminates pressure points to keep your circulation moving
  • Spring-Loaded Suspension gives the stainless steel prongs deeper penetration
  • Duratek decking keeps the weight down
  • Holey-1 toe crampon uses shovel-shaped stainless steel prongs for better hold
Designed for women from the start, the Elektra 12 Series snowshoe benefits from Atlas' extensive research into women's biomechanics. The 7075 ReactiV aluminum frame is specially shaped with outside rolling bends to create a narrower waist and tapered tail that allow a woman's natural stride. The padded Wrapp Pro binding eliminates pressure points to keep your circulation moving and your extremities warm, and FlowTape Silicone straps glide easily through the buckles, even with mittens on. Spring-Loaded Suspension gives the stainless steel prongs and rails of the toe and heel crampons even deeper penetration. The Duratek decking keeps the weight down, and the climbing bar will let you charge to the summit with ease.

The 23-inch model is sized for users 80 to 160 pounds, while the 27-inch model is sized for users 120 to 200 pounds.

Technology Features:
  • Elektra Design: The Elektra women's designs grew from a two-year biomechanics research program to a deep line of successful women's snowshoes that continue to lead the industry. Our Elektra frames are shaped to accommodate a woman's natural gait, with tapered tails, a narrower nose and outside rolling bends that nest the snowshoes together comfortably. Since women's needs are more than frame-deep, the binding designs are molded around a women's boot last, offer increased arch support and use carefully-placed strapping/padding to eliminate pressure points and keep circulation moving in the cold.
  • Spring-Loaded Suspension: An Atlas tenet from the beginning, Atlas' patented Spring-Loaded Suspension (SLS) keeps the snowshoe close underfoot for easy maneuvering and suspends your foot so it can move freely with its intended articulation. The suspension absorbs impact and lets your foot flex naturally side-to-side for a comfortable, stable position on traverses and uneven terrain. SLS enhances traction control too, as the flex provides deeper crampon penetration into the slope, especially on steep or off-angle terrain.
  • V-Frame: A proprietary Atlas shape, the sturdy aluminum V-Frames are the key to an efficient, natural stride. The V shape tracks straight in deep snow, and the tapered tail pulls less snow as you step forward, saving your energy. The turned-up tail of the V-frame rolls easily into each step for a natural gait.
  • Heel Lift Bar: On steep climbs, calf muscles tire quickly and traction decreases when your foot matches the slope angle. The heel lift bar eases fatigue and ties directly into Advanced Aft Traction for grip.
  • Duratek Decking:Our lightest and strongest decking, Duratek uses a pebble-finish for more abrasion resistance on the 12 Series, Elektra 12 Series and BC24 snowshoes.
  • Holey-1 Toe Crampon: Our top-end traction, the Holey-1 uses shovel-shaped stainless steel prongs for better hold and sharp ice tips for superior bite on frozen slopes.

These performance snowshoes are designed to handle anything you find between the trailhead and the summit
